Tasting Notes:
Refreshingly unoaked, citrus and white peach flavours combine with a zesty fresh acidity and a clean, bright and linear mineral finish. The judicious addition of Langhorne Creek Chardonnay adds palate, weight and texture. Ultimately, this tangy sandily textured Chardonnay remains a lovely, early, galah-filled morning expression of Australia's night.
About the wine:
The Central Victorian region has soils that are sandy loams deriving directly from granite and gneissic bedrocks. They are typically brown to grey brown in colour. Fertility is moderate as are typical yields, grapes tend to be high in concentrated flavours.
Bright sunny days and cool nights allowed for exceptional flavour development. The wine is a clean crisp style with no malolactic fermentation or Oak treatment. The result is an elegant wine with high natural acidity.
About the producer:
The Listening Station Wines are named in honour of the few small listening and tracking stations throughout Western Australia used in the 1960's space race to keep continuous communication possible with the astronauts as they orbited the planet.
Food match:
This bright and approachable style of Chardonnay is a great partner to a wide range of dishes. Try it with tempura fried vegetables, aromatic chicken salads or crispy Chinese pork. Try it with seafood and shellfish. I think it'd be a lovely pair with Lobster, but then anything works pretty well with lobster.
This wine is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
