Tasting notes:

Gorgeous stony, mineral notes, citrus, and white flowers. With age, the wine develops honey, nutty aromas.

About the wine:

Hand picked 50 to 90 year old vines, grown in the Cru du Bois vineyard on sand, clay and limestone soils with pebbles near the surface at a density of 3500 vines per ha.

Vinification in stainless steel tanks, and no malolactic fermentation. Aging is done without oak in stainless steel.

About the producer:

Created by Guillaume Gonnet and his Australian wife Kelly, the Guillaume Gonnet estate was established in 2006. Before joining his family as 3rd generation winemaker, Guillaume travelled the world working in some of the most famous wineries in Bordeaux, Burgundy, The Napa Valley, New Zealand and finally in Australia where he met Kelly.

One of the first conversations the couple had was a long discussion about "terroir" and it's expression in wine. Guillaume has always been fascinated by the notion of "terroir", most notably about how the Southern Rhône varietals express themselves in diverse terroir.

Guillaume Gonnet wines are the realisation of their dream to explore the potential of Southern Rhône grape varietals in varying terroir around the world. Guillaume and Kelly purchased their own plots of Chateauneuf du Pape in 2015. With their vines, Guillaume continues to produce wine that reflects his philosophy for winemaking - Minimal interference with the "terroir effect" by following biodynamic agricultural principals, ensuring the wine is right blend of Southern Rhone varietals Grenache, Syrah and Mouvèdre, to attain complexity, balance and soft, elegant tannins and following an approach to aging using very little wood influence.

The wines display typicity - the characteristics and qualities of wines produced from these exceptional regions, with a softness and elegance that are the signature style of Guillaume Gonnet wines.

The Robin, a small bird that can often be found in their vineyard, embodies all that drives the creation of these wines - dreams, liberty, and terroir.
