Tasting notes:

The Valery Renaudat Quincy is a lovely, pale yellow green in colour.

The nose is elegant and disctinctive, with firm citrus notes, lemon, a bit of lime, some distinct black pepper and a lovely slightly richer floral note.

The palate shows the quality of the wine, with more citrus notes, firm acidity, a lovely minerality and again a slightly richer lees and floral hint throughout. The finish is long and very refreshing.

About the wine:

The grapes for Les Nouzats are grown in a sand and gravel soil on vines of around 25 years old.

At the optimum level of ripeness the grapes are mechanically harvested, pressed and fermented in stainless steel temperature controlled vats at a low temperature. After a period ageing on the lees, the wine is bottled and released for sale.

About the producer:

Born in Berry, France, Valery Renaudat studied agronomy and viniculture, before travelling to California to cut his teeth working there for a vintage, before returning and working in cellars in Bordeaux and with Vincent Girardin in Burgundy.

At the age of 25 he returned to Diou in 1999 starting his own two hectare domaine, buying vineyards in Reuilly as well as becoming the only vigneron based in this appellation to reverse the trend and purchase vines in Quincy; buying vines from the Dumange family after they sold up and vacated La Maison Blanche.

Now 12 hectares in total, the Domaine has 3.5 hectares of Quincy which are all in the lieu-dit of Les Nouzats and gives the wine its name.
