Tasting notes:
Crisp clear lemon yellow in colour, with ripe aromas of melon, pear, lemon oil and almonds and rich noticeably yeasty flavours on the palate from extended aging on the lees with a long finish and absolutely no oak and a lovely green apple freshness.
About the wine:
The grapes for this fabulous Macon are carefully harvested, pressed and fermented. There is a prolongued period of ageing on the lees before bottling. There is no oak contact with this wine, enhancing the crispness and freshness of the fruit.
About the producer:
Domaine Gerald and Philibert Talmard is a family Domaine in the small town of Uchizy in the Maconnais. The style of wine Philibert produces here is pure and refreshing, achieved by early picking of ripe grapes whilst they still have good levels of acidity in them and fermented using stainless steel only. From the 2000 vintage there will be a slight change to the label. The letters ‘G & P’ will be more prominent to distinguish the wine from that of Philibert’s brother, Paul, who produces an entirely different style of wine.
