Tasting notes:
Attractive pale colour with complex nose of ripe citrus fruits, mandarin, spices. Full and delicate mouth, with subtle red and stone fruits, underlying creaminess and an elegant finish.
About the wine:
It is a saignée (bleeding) rosé. After harvesting, grenache and Rolle are destemmed and blended in stainless steel vats and macerated for a few hours to extract the finest flavours. Bleeding juice is then fermented at moderate temperature to preserve our terroir’s expression. It is aged on the lees to enhance elegance. A small part of the blend is vinified and aged in oak barrels. At the end of aging, a touch of Syrah is added to the blend to improve balance and complexity.
About the producer:
Situated near Pézenas, south-west of Montpellier, Domaine Montrose is very much a twenty-first century wine producer. Between the forward-thinking owner, Bernard Coste, and the skilled winemaker, Michel Le Goaëc, Montrose are able to cultivate local and foreign grape varieties from Rolle to Cabernet Sauvignon, vinify them to perfection, and then produce beautifully married blends. Fully thermo-controlled steel tanks are used for fermenting and ageing all of the cépages.
Food match:
Enjoy this rose with plenty of seafood, shellfish or guinea fowl. Or simply chill it and sit in the garden on a summers day with this rosé, good company and a good view.
