Tasting notes:
Rich generous, crystallised lemon marmalade, overflowing with aromas of hyacinth, rose, lychee and honey. The palate is clean, lifted by hints of lime and a minerally character. Fantastically scrumptious.
About the wine:
The Gewurztraminer grapes are sourced from vines of over 30 years old, from selected prime vineyards.
The grapes undergo a relatively traditional vinification process overseen by winemaker Michel Lirhmann. The grapes are pressed pneumatically, the fermentation is temperature controlled, there are no finings, just a light filtration before bottling; all to preserve the fruit and aromatic qualities of the wine.
About the producer:
Cave de Turkheim is situated in the village of Turkheim, just north of Colmar. Firmly established as one of the best co-operatives in the world, Cave de Turkheim always pays utmost attention to the wine, combining experience, skill and patience with the latest technology and continued investment.
Michel Lihrmann has been the senior winemaker for over 25 years and firmly believes that varietals in Alsace should express their delicate characteristics and favours drier styles.
Food match:
Good with chicken slald Thai style, and can stand up to a healthy dollop of Chilli paste. Alternatively, try with duck dishes, including duck pate if you're just in the mood for a snack. Peppers stuffed with jasmine rice or tabouleh is a great match too.
This wine is suitable for vegetarians.
