Tasting notes:
A deep ruby red wine with an intense nose of red fruit, like cherry, spices and lightly smoky undertones, evolving to menthol, aniseed and floral aromas. In the mouth it is smooth and fresh with silky, well-balanced tannins, as always. Vanilla, liquorice and elderberry lead to rich roasted notes and mocha on the finish. The Terrasses du Larzac remains a truly exceptional appellation, and this vintage is here to prove it once again.
About the wine:
The grapes are carefully harvested by hand at the optimum level of ripeness, before de-stemming and sorting. The grapes are pressed and the resulting must is fermented in temperature controlled concrete vats before spending 12 months ageing in French oak (30% new, 40% 1 year old and 30% 2 year old barrels)
About the producer:
Founded in 1995, Calmel & Joseph is a maison de négoce specializing in Languedoc-Roussillon wines from private wineries from across the region.
Over the years, they have built close personal relationships with a large number of growers from all appellations. Convinced of the extraordinary potential of this region, oenologist, Laurent Calmel, and Jerome Joseph work together on the vinification, blending and ageing of wines with the common purpose of demonstrating the little known yet unique quality of these Mediterranean terroirs.
As well as their desire to produce high quality wines consistent with their terroirs, they are committed to making wines which reflect their convictions and experience.
